SUN Chenghang's group focused on: 1) discovery of new secondary metabolites by dereplication strategy from the cultural broth of microorganisms, especially, actinobacterial strains isolated from special environments. 2) Synthesis and structural modification of bioactive compounds. 3) Bioprospecting on pharmaceutical actinobacteria from special environments or niches such as gut of insects or animals, Mangrove, Desert, Salt Lake, Karst Cave and Marine etc. and species identification by polyphasic taxonomic studies on Bacterial and actinobacterial strains.
