Research Field:
Anti-viral drug research, Endogenous retrovirus (retrotransposon) research
Research Interests:
The research field of our group involves basic research of virology and development of antiviral drugs, especially focusing on anti-viral host restriction factors. On the other hand, we also engage in studying the retrotransposon LINE-1, which is the only currently known active autonomous transposon in humans. LINE-1 transposition may cause deleterious effects on the structure and function of the host cell genomes, thus causing serious genetic disease. We are interested in studying defense strategies of host cells in restricting LINE-1 mobilization, as well as the relationship between the LINE-1 retrotransposition and tumorigenesis. So far, Dr. Li has successively directed or participated in many scientific research projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Mega-Project for Infectious Disease, and the National Mega-Project for Significant New Drug Discovery and so on.
